About GØOXZ / AI4BK...

Mug-shot of GØOXZ... Ugh!!!Hi there and welcome to the website of Martin, GØOXZ and AI4BK.  Notice I always dress casual...

I've had a keen interest in all things radio since I was about 11 years-old and first ventured into AM CB in the late 70's - in Canada of course!!  I later took the UK Radio Amateur Examination (RAE) in the late 80's and was issued the UK Class 'B' Licence G7IES.  However I was very keen to get on the HF bands so about a year later with the help of a local, Don GØOOC, successfully took the 12WPM Morse test at the now defunct VHF/UHF Convention at Sandown racecourse in Esher, Surrey in the 1990's.

More recently I decided to embark on a new challenge, the outcome of which is that I am now the proud holder of a US Extra Class License with the callsign AI4BK having passed the necessary exams in October 2002 and August 2003.

If you're interested in obtaining an FCC licence, feel free to contact me for more info and/or see Paul, GØVEP's website for exam availability in the UK.  I understand he can offer an on-demand exam if required although he would obviously prefer a number of candidates for each sitting rather than just the one.

I also operate an Internet Gateway in the Epsom area on 430.0625 MHz FM.  See the EchoLink page for the latest news on this...

On the subject of repeaters, have a look at the page about GB3NS - if you live in or have contacts in the north of Surrey you might be able to help out with this homeless box...

I can often be found hovering on S20 and the local repeaters of West London, Surrey and West Sussex (GB3AL, HZ, HL and WS - also sometimes HY and even the almost completely deserted HO).  Maybe bump into you sometime?

Thanks for taking the time to read this - sorry if you found it boring.  Feel free to get in touch if you'd like to - I'd particularly like to hear from Hams from Alberta who would like to make contact.
